A New Spice Vendor

I'm quite partial to Penzey's myself.
I'll have to look into this one's specialties, for fun. I'm all for fair trade and supportive of local farmers -- those issues would actually be my primary concern.

Selling mace ON the nutmeg is pretty darn cool. Hmm, cinnamon leaves. Never seen them mentioned. Would probably be a great addition to beef stew (a cinnamon stick added is an eastern European thing; other cultures too I'm sure. Kinda like ginger snap gravy.)

For those who read Serious Eats long ago, Max Falkowitz, now with Saveur, is on the board. That sold me. Not that the photos and items wouldn't have!

Hmm...Wonder what made me think ginger snaps in gravy was a German thing?

Anyway, it works.

My grandmother on the Scots/English side would put cloves in an onion and add to something, but I can't remember what just now.

In great part because Yiddish is Germanic.

Quite interesting! I had not thought Yiddish was that old.
