We have 4 Events loosely planned:

Friday evening will be Cocktails and goodies in our suite around 6:30-7

Friday dinner is open but the Rathskeller looks interesting, plus it's a short crawl from the cocktail partyImage

Saturday Lunch is open but Mongo has suggested a wander into Shepardstown

Saturday dinner is at 7:pm in the main dinning room

The current weather forecast isn't promising - rainy & 60's

If anyone attending wants my cell phone# please PM me.

We have a block of garden view rooms blocked out under "Good Eats Fan Page" - They are group rated at $135 / night. If you want something fancier like a Riverview Queen/King with a whirlpool it's not a big deal just ask about them.

We have dinner reservations in the main dinning room on Saturday at 7pm

CONFIRMED Weekend of April 5th & 6th

Eastern Briner food and wine weekend at The Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown West Virginia.

Phone 304-876-2551 for reservations.

The place has quite a reputation and could be a lot of fun. It's about 80 miles west of both DC and Baltimore.

We've been talking about that for a couple of years.
Somebody has to pick a date.
I'll be there.

I'd kinda like to stay overnight.
I've heard they have a dynamite Sunday Brunch.
I hate to travel that far for just one meal.

We always let folks traveling from afar pick the dates for Crab Feasts.
Those of us within an easy 2 hour drive should be more flexible.

So I'm thinkin' West Virginia is the heart of the Appalchians.
Copeland's Appalachian Spring is one of my favorites.
I'll post a link to a Youtube clip with pictures of
spring in the mountains set to appropriate music.

Can you believe, no one has thought to do that? :?
YouTube has 76 versions of Appalachian Spring.
Most show an orchestra and conductor,
Some, as Kristina warned us, show horrible
marching band butcherings of the music. :x
A few show pictures.

This was the best that I could find. Paintings by Frederick Church,
at least some of them are spring in the Applachians.

One guy put together a slide show of photos of the Rockies
as if "Ya seen one mountain range, ya seen 'em all."

I think I have a project.

If there is enough advance warning, Tiffany and I, more than likely just me, could make it. I'd fly in if anything.

OK, I'll give 'em a call tomorrow and see if there is a time that is better for them.

If we can get a decent group (say 5-10 rooms?) I would assume we could get a discount, although looking at their room rates they are pretty reasonable.

And don't forget the Rathskeller in the basement. They have an extensive wine celler.

So when I mentioned this to MS, he immediately wanted to make a getaway of it as well. So we'd be very interested in trying to work a room discount.

If anyone gets bored there, they can hop over to Charlestown Races and Slots for a little fun, it's only about 20 minutes away.

March would be better than April. Warm weather makes it all go to hell for me at work. No March 15th though. My Baby's birthday.

If hubby and I came it would definitely be an overnight thing. I'd like to do it, but it's going to depend on dates and hubby's work schedule.

I requested some dates where they could offer a good overnight rate. How many would want to overnight?

Have to wait for SDP - I didn't call back once he posted he was already discussing dates with them. No need for two of us to try to book the same date :)

I don't think we are ready to book anything yet; we're just looking for
information. We don't know how many rooms we need. Just 'cause
somebody says: "Yeah' I'll be there" doesn't mean we can count on it...
