MIDWEST* BRINER MEET
When: Sunday, May 25th, 2008
Time: Whenever you feel like gracing us with your prescence
Where: Tena's backyard
Food: KC BBQ (what else?!)

Kids welcome!

A pilgramage will be made to Bichelmeyer's meat market and BBQ goodness will be ready to consume by Sunday.

If you plan on attending, I only ask the following: Provide some means of assisting with the feast. Be it paying for some of the meat, bringing a dish, or making a dish while here. This also means I will need to know by MAY 1st if you plan on attending so I can make sure we have enough meat.

A few folks are coming into town early to hang out at Chez Tena. I have very limited proper sleeping accommidations, however if you don't mind the floor, bring an air mattress or sleeping bag and have at it. Or, I live near several nice, relatively cheap hotels.

For the girls (you know who you are), this is a heads up, girlie-time shall commence beginning Thursday evening. Details to follow.

Midwest has been deemed a subjective term, but it sounds flashy so I use it. Anyone, ANYWHERE is invited to any meet they wish to attend.
It was suggested that Sunday would be a better day to hold the BBQ, so its now Sunday instead of Saturday.

Hooray! I'm trying to time it so that we can be there without me having to take time off work, which most likely means a late Friday night arrival (traveling by car, leaving WI right after work on Friday). I'll know for sure by the deadline.

I think we should look ahead to some girlie spa time.

Sorry Tena, dear friend, but we will not be able to attend. My best friend is getting married on May 24th, so we will be traveling to Colorado.

We've actualy talked about this since the Dell's meet last October.

It started out as a girl's weekend. Some people expressed interest in making it a more global get together, so this is pretty much splitting the difference.

Tena's backyard is in Shawnee Kansas, about 10 mile SW of KC.
The cookout at her house will just be the centerpiece of a long weekend
of gluttony and debauchery.
Last fall's BinD3 in Wisconsin should give a hint of what is in store.

Oh wow, that look like an insane amount of fun and gluttony good thing that if I do indeed go, I would be going on bike there and back so I can eat all I want without having to worry about eating too much calories.

Now I gotta check out googlemap and see just how far is it to there from colorado springs and what good campsite may be there, though a fellow briner's backyard or their friend backyard would be welcome

That is Memorial Day Weekend and our neighbors kid is graduating. I don't really care for the bugger, but for harmony may feel I need to attend. If I can figure out a way to miss it.....

I will work on logistics. Our daughter and her family live in Overland Park, so we could see them too. I prefer to stay in a hotel anyways.

Shawnee is the next suburb over from Overland Park, just across I-35.

Rotten hasn't posted on this thread yet, but Tena and I visited Rotten and
Jugglergirl in 2006, and made a mess of their kitchen. I think it's highly
likely they will take this opportunity to retaliate.

That's a frightening thought, but I have been there, and I think I was
the first to mention what a great place for a party it would be.

I particularly wanted to encourage Bonnie, 'cause every year she has
wanted to join us in the Dells, but hasn't made it yet.

I'll try to flush Charles out. Last I saw or heard of him was summer of
2006, about the same time you were here. He'd just gotten a full time
job in espionage. BrianS (the cast iron expert) is another one from
that area that we haven't heard from in a while. Anamule is somewhere
in Kansas, and she still posts. There are quite a few in MO too.

... and I've heard Eye4Got has some lame excuses too - so if I have to fly into STL and kidnap him for the drive to Tena's, I will.

Can't guarantee the G-meister will be able to make it, but I will do my damndest to come...

G's been to meets without me right?

Hey Tena, Tiffany and I are going to be making the drive up there. Probably leave N. Texas Saturday morning putting us in to your neck of the woods in the late afternoon/early evening.

As we get closer, let me know what you have in mind for the full menu and what's missing and such. I'll be glad to fill in any gaps or bring some Texas goodies.

I've talked to Tena on this actually. Unfortunately, we reserve memorial day and labor day weekend to visit Jugglergirl's family in Lincoln, NE. Although i do really want to mess in Tena's kitchen for a while I can't complain too much as Itchyfoot graciously cleaned up the place while we were at work the next morning.
