Busted like Benjamin Bunny.

And Briner women and gay waiters everywhere are thanking you for it.

*makes note to buy Wanda an extra glass of Malbec next year*

Nice try at the rear view, too, but that damned orange coat is just a little too long.

Wanda, love your Penzey's tableau with AB board & Wonderwoman sign.

sadiedog, LOL'd at the "liver must be punished" shirt. 8) Glad you're home safe; next time come through Red Wing, please?

Thanks to everybody for posting pics; makes me miss y'all even more and more determined than ever to get there next yr.

(And Kinsley, glad you made it to the Dells safely despite that near-miss on the road. Whew, and huzzah to Dana who came to the rescue).

Will definitely be checking out that Furthermore beer now with the high marks from such discriminating palates.

Darnit, Quizzy/Erin: you guys found extendo-forks?! Where are the pics of those?!

There appears to be one of me snagging a roll from across the table on Sadie's photo page.

...but poor Beenie didn't see me comin' when I tasted the whipped cream on her pancakes the next morning...just to see if it was real....quality control, and all...

it was..real, I mean.

I've got captions now.

BiTD 2008

I am also adding a link to the pictures I took at the Franconia Sculpture Park. It's in Taylor Falls, MN, about 10 minutes from my folk's house. Mom's always wanted to stop, so we did on our way back from the Cities. I have always been facinated by what I called the "Space Men." You can see them from the road and they glow when the moon hits the silver paint on the fabric. I especially liked the boat with all the spoons, it is what a boat made by us Briners might look like. Art is subjective and sometimes weird. Enjoy.

In my defense, it was cold in there. :P

When we last saw the Briners, they were staggering out of the Del-Bar, grumbling.
It was about 10 O'clock on a Saturday night. After 3 times wandering along the
Wisconsin Dells Boulevard on nights like this, looking for fun, we decided to try to
make our own entertainment.

Everyone gathered once more in my suite at the Garden Inn. Lovely beverages
appeared, as if by magic. Pari mixed several pitchers of Old Fashioneds. As you might
expect, I don't recall much of what happened, except that we had to keep reminding
ourselves to keep the noise down. We could have used a couple more chairs. :?

I don't believe it occurred to anyone to take pictures. It was the same folks you've
already seen in this thread. Imagine us in a hotel room. Gotta thank Volfan for
noticing me nod out about midnight and leading the throng away. I had to get started
pretty early the next morning on my trek home.

Speaking of the next morning, there was time for one more flurry of gluttony.
Rumor has it that a few went to the Cracker Barrel, but most of us ended up
at Mr. Pancake. I complained that the Del-Bar has aspirations beyond it's abilities,
and tried to do to many different things. Mr. Pancake has no such issues.

We had blueberry pancakes,

chocolate chip pancakes

Image

bacon pancakes,

pancakes,

Image

omelette with pancakes

Image

and one truly adventurous Briner chose blintzes.

Image

Thus endeth, Briners in the Dells IV. There were many hugs.

It's been a lot of fun for me. I've made my trips to the Dells part of broader
adventures that included stops in Michigan, Chicago, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
Kansas and Missouri and visits with Briners who live there. It's all been pretty well
documented, and most of that is still in the GEFP archive ...

BUT

It's time for me to wander in other directions. Too many places I haven't been yet,
and too many Briners I haven't met.

AND

You guys should really think about visiting my home territory, the exotic Mid-Atlantic
region. Maryland has tons of fine food and living history. Washington, DC is a must
see for all Americans. There's quite a few other briners in the area, so you can count
on a party when you come.

...and still I'm not done with reporting on this adventure. I spent 3 days in Chicago
and 2 days on trains last week. I took 800 pictures, and will share a few of them
with you when I'm ready. It'll be soon.

I've been wondering about that too. I watched a concert on PBS last
week and I kept asking myself: How did I learn to play piano like that?
What did I do with all the money? Was I really married to Christy Brinkley?
Why don't I remember any of this?

I couldn't see the picture at work. I thought it must be a picture of me.
This one maybe.

If you've seen Billy Joel lately, it's scary how much he
looks like me (facially), he's not quite as fat.

Image

From that angle, Josh does look a bit like a younger Billy. It's funny what
you can see if you use your imagination. I think this one looks like Bob Seger
(facially), obviously he's channeling Beavis as Cornholio. *click*

Hey, anyone remember some little trip that happened oooooh so long ago in the Dells? I finally have pics sorted.

So, if anyone is interested, here is BIND2008 - Day 0. It's really T-2. I met Kinz Wed. night prior while he was in Chicago. We ate at the Greek Islands. It's my favorite place, but actually, I found the food that night to be...ordinary. (Something I've never said before.) And, the service to be...overly attentive. (I mean, he was literally standing 5 feet away. Thomas Keller should hire our server. He was THAT close.)

I think Kinz already posted photos of the food.
Here's Kinz and our lil buddy.

After last night, it's just a hotel - sitting across the street from where the President-elect gave his acceptance speech. Darn cool.
