Calling all Briners

Que Fest (AKA "Meat Orgy") 2008 roll call!

It will be held on Saturday September 20th in Havre De Grace Maryland. I figure we can start the eating around 2pm.

FINAL DETAILS
Anyone else interested in attending? RSVP is not required but a heads-up would be appreciated. Even if you decide that morning - come on out! There will be plenty of food.

I will be in Havre De Grace from Thursday evening on. I will not have internet access, so if you need to contact me - call me - my cell# is on the directions PDF.

TIME CHANGE (sort of)
I'm timing the BBQ to start coming off the pit around 1-1:30.. Even though I said 2pm please feel free to come earlier so that we can start chowing by 2 to avoid having having the Q sit too long.

THE MENU

Beef Brisket
Pulled pork featuring Gamecook's rub and root beer/vinegar sauce.
Pork Ribs
Hawg wings with Jules's apricot goo / chipotle sauce
Tequila/Chipotle grilled chicken wings
Chips and stuff (in JJ's AB helmet)
Corn on the cob (if we can get some good corn)
Kinlsey's potato salad
NC style cole slaw
AB's Once and future beans (Babaylon1023)
KittyFixer's Cheesecake (featuring Jule's Jams)
Coolickles (Vickatina)
and whatever else people decide to bring or I decide to make at the last minute.

Currently we have:

Myself & KittyFixer (duh!)
Butterbean
Kinsley
Vickatina & the Mini Vics (pit slaves)
Trega & Hubby
Missimessi, The Stick +3
dynagirl + 3(?)
Rockford 10 +3
Babylon1023 +1
EricE
geimerst!

Anyone else? Party Flavor? Matt? Fractal? Spidey Sense? Any other Baltimore/Washington/Delawareians interested?

Not necessary, but if you so desire, feel free. I'd say sides or desserts. I know I'm going to do Ray Lampie's beans, and NC style slaw, other than that?????

Wouldn't be a Briner Barbeque without Kinsley's potato salad. 8)
I might bring a fruit salad, too.

Anyone interested in doing an Iron Chef if I can rustle up a couple more Kettle grills ? Or would you rather just eat yourselves silly?

I am SO looking forward to what real Southern BBQ tastes like. All we Jersey folk get is Famous Daves, which is good compared to the ribs you get at TGI McFunster's, but I still get the vibe that I have no idea what I'm missing. :) I did have excellent ribs at a Sticky Fingers in SC once, that's my current top level experience.

BTW, what style of BBQ would you classify this as? (I'm only vaguely aware of the regional differences)

Classify it as?

Good?

My ribs are a cross between Memphis dry ribs and KC style (I suppose)
Brisket is straight Texas style
Pork is,,,,sorta Southern I guess.

I'd say taste and make your own judgment.

I've got confirmation for the three of us, finally.

Is there room in the menu for a double batch of AB's Once and Future Beans? I'm getting quite adept at making them. :)

OK after cooking 2 (yes, 2 ) parties at my BIL's this weekend here's what we've learned:

It looks like about 25 people so far with 7 or so being kids.

Other than the Q', we're going to get a bunch of corn if it's good, KF is going to do a cheesecake featuring Jules's jams. We'll also do chips and salsas staring JJ's AB helmet. I plan on have some good southern style slaw and some German potato salad.

Now as for the rest of you: Those that have volunteered to bring things:

Kinsley - Potato salad, fruit salad(?)
Vickatinia - Koolickles
missimessi - Poundcake
Babylon1023 - AB's Once and Future Beans

Here's the Key:
Don't make a huge batch! Make enough so everyone can have a small sample, but don't go nuts, otherwise we'll have food for 400

18 days to go :D

Do we need any vegetables? Drinks? Anything else? I thought I would make cupcakes, but I don't think you need any more desserts.

I've still got some hootch limoncello.
