The cream of the crop.

We just got in after fetching the munchkin, and I am whooped. I sat in the sun longer than I should have, but I had a great time. As I type, hubbys nibbling out of his "doggie bag", which is more like a trough!

SDP, thanks so much for a fabulous get together!

Kins, I hope you feel better soon, we drove home with an eye out for you to be broken down somewhere.

(extremely eagerly awaiting pics & stories!)

I'm sure it was fantabulous!!!

Sorry Kinz! Feel better.
(Tweaked my back 20 minutes into work day today. Good thing I didn't have a party to go to. :-()

(What, no live feed? Oh, they're still eating & drinking and/or passed out.) :D

Tough crowd... I've been back at the hotel less than 2 hours, working on this post

Most of the day was spent talking, eating and drinking (beer, soda, h2o)
The weather was great, tons of sun, a great view of the bay, lots of room
for the kids to play.

There were some great desserts: lemon curd cheesecake
and banana split cake, a bundt cake, and brownies (sorry - no pics)

But I did take these:

Veg had little to fear at the event - it was truly a "Meat Orgy" 8)
Image
Clockwise from top:
chips, chicken wings, once & future beans, ribs, coolicle, with brisket across the middle
a swath of Gamecook's root beer/vinegar sauce topped the meat

The not so Mötley Crüe (L-R)
Rockford10 & her boys, Vickatina & the mini-vicks, our host Slamdunkpro, Geimerst, Hol1023, missimessi,
Babylon 1023, and Butterbean.

I enjoyed meeting everyone, Babs, SDP & I didn't get into any fights (very little politics).
It was relaxing, fun to see the Slammer working the pit, enjoying great food, good conversation
and meeting some great people.

The one dissapointment was not meeting Kins (sorry to hear about your knee)and EricE.

And I'll agree w/beenie (from a different thread) - this is a great community.

And Slammer - Thank You !! Another highlight for 2008 !!

That's the truth! He made it look so easy! You can tell that he's very comfortable there, in his zone!

It's ok it's Hollie aka Hol1023. I told Chris that he shouldn't have introduced me as wifey because then people wouldn't know my name. It looks like I was right

Looks like a great time was had by all. Damned if we missed it by a few days :(

Hopefully there will be another soon.

It was a great event - I just got home.

It was great meeting 2 more briners! Rockford10 (who learned that going to internet gatherings don't always involve hand lotion and a pit in a basement :wink: ) and her family and Geimerst. It was also nice to see everyone else as well (of course). Sorry to hear about your knee Kinz;

For those of you that didn't make it, you missed a really good time: Babs's beans were awesome, and Missie's pound cake rocked. The coolickels were interesting too! (I could not believe how much the Mini-Vicks (Pit Slaves) have grown!).

JJ's Chip and dip helmet was the hit of the party! (Thanks again)

I didn't get a chance to take any pictures as I was pretty grubby with the pit all day, but I'm sure others will fill in. A big thanks goes out to my Mom and Dad who let me host the event at their place, and to KittyFixer who drove the lemon curd cheesecake 100 miles with a 100 degree fever.

Briners who contributed to the event in spirit:
Jules - Jams & apricot "goo"
JJ - the AB signed centerpiece
Gwilson - the lemon curd in the cheesecake
Gamecook - Root beer/vinegar sauce
You guys rock! Thanks again!

Thanks again to all who came, Que Fest #2 planning is already underway!

Thanks to you, Mike - and to Kitty Fixer & your Mom & Dad - for an idyllic afternoon. You are truly a Barbeque Brahman!

Yes Mike, thanks to the Nth power! I'll definitely be back for the sequels. Before I forget, you should post the link to where we can get that kick ass Mexican salsa. Between that and the layer dip, best eva!

SDP - Thanks for the great event. We all had a really great time. The boys are still talking about the meat. MEAT! We're having some leftovers tonight...

No pictures of the corn? It was really wonderful. Especially with the vat of melted butter to go along with. Wow. Yum.

It was a wonderful weekend, I'll bet the weather was great too! Looking forward to the next one...

Perhaps this could now be moved to the "Posts we don't want to forget/Briner meet" section of the board?

Just posting a link to the amazing vessel that prepared all the meat at the Q-Fest. Of course, the best equipment is nothing without a master who knows how to use it.
