Pretty much anywhere around the Cobb Energy Center is going to be fine as far as neighborhoods go. Going out a few miles at least. Hotels around there may not be too expensive, as I think they cater to more business/convention clientele. I haven't stayed at the America's Inn place, but have a few times at Red Roof Inn and have always liked them. Also, make sure you check out places like Hotwire - I've always found really good deals with them.

I'm probably just going to the second show, so I'll be free all day up until then if anybody wants to get together or needs a ride. Also, if anybody needs something to do that afternoon the Annual German Bierfest is going on from 2:00 to 7:00 that Saturday.

After much back and forth I decided I couldn’t miss this. I’ve got my ticket for the evening show and the meet & greet…

OMG I get to see AB live. SQUEAL!! I am too excited. If anyone plans a formal briner meet up I would love to meet you guys.

I am the not-so-mysterious briner who will be with Vickatina. I will be in 34 D the 2p show and L-left for the 7. We aren't sitting together as this came together separately.

EricE, JJ, and DanC, Vickatina and I each have cars if you need rides. I suppose I shouldn't volunteer her without asking. :D

As many of us will be close by for many meals over the weekend, I hope we can get together for some. I look forward to meeting many new faces and seeing DanC and chefshawn again.

I'll be driving down as well. My mom is coming with me... don't know if she will want to partake in the Briner festivities (she is attending the show).

If not I can ofter rides as well. My back seat rarely has visitors ;)

10th anniv briner meet

Postby Steve Erhardt » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:14 am

Hi everybody,
A newbie here!
My wife and I have tickets to the 7:00 show and the meet and greet!
We own the "Philly Pretzel Factory" in Milton/Alpharetta, Ga. and are willing to host the Briner get together for the 10th anniv show. We will provide FREE pretzels. Alton talked about Philly pretzels in episode 173 "Pretzel Logic" and our pretzels are authentic Philly pretzels! Also anyone who brings in their ticket stub from the show to our store on sunday gets a free pretzel!
Our store is in Milton/Alpharetta Ga which is about 30 to 45 min from the Cobb Energy Center.
If anyone wants to call to set this up or would like additional information I can be reached at 678-878-9728
Thanks,
Steve Erhardt

Well CRAP.

I've been checking the Cobb Center's website every day to see how tickets are going.

They sold out of the $175 meet-'n-greet tickets sometime today. Before we knew Hegehog's work schedule situation for that weekend.

Granted, I can still get seats in the Mezz if need be, but no meeting AB. POOP!

Room booked at America's Best Value Inn... for now...

Thinking this through a bit more...
and actually reading some of the other comments...
and spending a few minutes to look at other alternatives in the area...
let's see where this 'thinking' thing led me...

There is a Holiday Inn Express closer (by a mile) to the Cobb Center...
located just outside the Cobb Galleria Complex...
which is where the Cobb Energy Center is located...

It may make going to & fro a bit easier...
and the rates aren't that much more... for a 'name' facility...

Google Map of AmBestValue to Cobb Center

compared to

Google map of Holiday Inn Exp to Cobb Center

I'll have the hotel issue decided by monday...
I'll likely switch to the Holiday Inn Express
I will have a vehicle and can provide transport for others

-------------------------------------

I'm thinking of stopping at Flip Burger Boutique - a Richard Blais diner
on Sunday, enroute back to the Airport - I have a mid-afternoon flight planned...

I have extra tickets, because I don't yet know which show I'm going to; I don't want to go to both. None are the meet-n-greet ones (out of my budget), but when we work out what show we're going to you are welcome to first-dibs on my extra tickets.

Two for Orch section C, row A afternoon show ($75)
Four for Grand Tier Center, row C, evening show ($25 - definitely selling two of these)

So if you can get up here, you're covered.

Does anyone know how long the evening show will be? And how long the meet-n-greet will take?

Just trying to get an idea of how late we're looking at for any kind of get-together after the evening show. It looks like most people are doing the evening show, with or without meet-n-greet. Some are doing the afternoon show as well, some are only the afternoon show.

We'll have 15-20 of us at the evening show, some doing meet-n-greet, some not. Should be enough for a party of some type :)

Also, many people are attending both shows.

Here's what I pieced together so far:

chefshawn - two for evening show
DanC+Patrick - doing both shows, meet-n-greet evening one
EricE - got ticket, didn't say which show
geimerst - which show?
Glacierfoot - both shows
gwilson - evening show only?
hollyrose - evening meet-n-greet
littlebit + spouse - ?
Peachtart - both shows + meet-n-greet
Pixie - evening show
Rockford 10 - both shows & meet-n-greet
ScoopIrish - 2 seats for the 2pm, almost front row
SharonA - tickets to both shows, will likely do just one
SlamdunkPro - arrive Friday PM, leave Sunday, which show?
Steve Erhardt - two to evening+meet-n-greet
tigger25143 + mom - which show?
Vickatina - both shows

I would also entertain the possibility of selling my
single meet & greet ticket (at face value) since
I'm also seeing AB in Nashville...

And, there are other tickets available for the live event ...

I must work to maintain my 'non-stalker' status...

My guess it's going to air on tv as a 1 hour special so they need about 45 minutes of "good" footage. I'm guessing about 90 minutes. The meet n greet should be about 110 people so probably scheduled for 2 hours but will run about two and a half.

Be prepared to wait. It's not as much of a madhouse as when it first opened, but it's still consistently busy. If you will be alone or with one other person, you may be able to sit at the bar relatively quickly though. And order your milkshake(s) early. The food doesn't take very long usually, but sometimes the milkshakes can take a while to get out, especially when they're slammed.

Sharona & Geimerst-

Thank-you for the offer. Already told Geimerst this in a reply PM but until we find out Hegehog's work schedule, we're not going anywhere. As of this writing, there are still $50 seats available for the 7pm show...just not two $175 ones I was hoping for. But such is life. If we can go, terrific. If we can't, well, I've already convinced myself that we're not going so I won't be too disappointed, LOL.

The Holiday Inn Express looks nice. They've got a pool and the free breakfast for $61/night.

I'm up for the Richard Blais adventure, but I think I'll leave early on Sunday. I still haven't got my tickets - fares dropped $30 on Friday - but I've been looking at the flights.

Looking again this morning at flights and hotels, I can get into the Sheraton Suites right across the street from the Cobb Center for the same price as the Holiday Inn express. I might go that route instead.

Got two tickets last week. Was talking about going to my wife and my almost 6-year old son asked if he could go. So, I had to downgrade to cheaper tickets ($75 to $50), but managed to get 2 seats on the last row on the floor/orchestra level.

We'll drive down, watch the show and then drive back.

I live right outside of Nashville and I've missed AB every year at Gaylord due to other commitments (weddings, t-ball, etc). Same thing this year, so the 10th Birthday thing was an awesome treat. Can't wait.

can we get any more confirmations?

I'm leaning towards getting a room at the Sheraton.
Seems like crashing at Pixies would be too inconvenient for her,
and we'll need a place to decompress (have wifi) between shows.
Now the question is transport between airport/hotel.
we arrive 10:30am Sat and leave 6:30am Sunday...

I should be able to pick you the two up at the airport when you arrive.

The return, I dunno. If we end up staying around and chatting after everyone breaks out from the meet-and-greet, then it could after midnight before the party breaks up. By that time you might as well be dropped off at the airport and just snooze or read the final few hours. If I'm not encumbered with a sleepy spouse wanting me to get him home early, then I can drop you off as well. But I can't say for sure just yet, when hubby gets back in town then we'll hammer out a schedule for the rest of the month.

August weekends are busy, and with hubby home only on weekends it's a process of negotiation. 8)
