OK, all you prognosticators!

The cream of the crop.

OK, all you prognosticators!

Postby Chef Mongo » Mon Jan 03, 2011 1:55 pm

Here we are on the threshold of a new year, and I'm going to revive an old tradition on the board: Making predictions for the year to come!

We'll leave this stickied until people stop posting, then file it in Posts We Don't Want To Forget until year's end, when we'll see who got what right.

While predictions of a political nature will of course be allowed, please save any fighting over same for the Poli-FRY forum. Thanks!

I'll start ...

1. A limited war will occur between North and South Korea, ending in a peace brokered by the U.S., China and Japan.

2. A medium-scale bioterrorism incident will happen in a major European city, killing at least 100 people.

3. An earthquake of a magnitude greater than 8.2 will happen somewhere on the Pacific Ring of Fire.

4. The Philadelphia Phillies will win the World Series.

Given the Phillies pitching staff it's not all that far fetched.

I predict that another long time poster will leave the GEFP in a huff, only to return with a new nom de guerre less than a month later.

I also predict the return of a long gone poster to the GEFP.

This is a good place to record these.

Predictions from UK's Craig Parker:

Two industrial explosions – a nuclear one in India that is reminiscent of the Bhopal disaster in scale, and a chemical one in China.

In August, three UK soldiers win Victoria Crosses for a daring night raid deep into Taliban stronghold.

A tropical island is evacuated due to volcanic eruption.

Earthquake in California and the famous Hollywood sign is damaged.

Wild animal disease scare results in mass slaughter of livestock.

Paul McCartney makes a record with Yoko Ono in honour of John Lennon. (oh please, NO)

In February, the Beckhams reveal that are planning a divorce.

Last time I participated in this, I killed the Pope. So this time, only happy predictions.

An oppressive regime (along the lines of Myanmar, Cuba, North Korea) will fall leading to an interim government which leads to a democratically elected one.

There will be an outer space event (like a supernova, new comet, etc.) that will have families out in the yard at night and spur some young kid into a life of scientific exploration.

I am afraid there will be nuclear war in Asia,
either Korea vs Korea or India vs Pakistan,
maybe both.

If not this year, next year, or the next...

While my friend Mongo MAY have had a couple of egg nogs, I MAY have had a "few" more and predict the Cubs to win it all.

Or at least get to the playoffs. Ahem.

Also, is it too late(since it is 2011) to predict the Green Bay Packer to win it all?

They tried to make him go to rehab, he said YES, YES, YES!

Charlie's in rehab, show's on hiatus after his 'hernia hospitalization'.
