Politician says we need more CO2 in the atmosphere

He says more CO2 is needed for the plants and wants to prohibit state standards for atmospheric CO2 levels under 500 ppm. He thinks CO2 levels could be doubled without adverse effect.

Apparently other members of the committee were receptive to this, but have concerns on a clause that states noble gases aren't pollution. They aren't sure that excluding gases like radon from regulation is a good idea...

My favorite was the one who said that we can't use wind energy because it would stop the wind and make the Earth stop spinning.

Mine was the one who though that if we put too many marines on Guam it would capsize.

I read about Lloyd Oliver, a Democratic candidate for district attorney in Harris County, TX, today.

Oliver told the Texas Observer Wednesday that domestic violence is "so, so overrated." If elected, he indicated he'd redirect resources away from family violence to focus on other issues. Harris County has the highest rate of domestic violence homicides in the state.

A lawyer with a checkered past, Oliver has run unsuccessfully for several offices, often as a Republican, because he says it drums up business for his law practice.

If Arizona's religious freedom law is signed by the gov, it will bring boycotts. I know there have been court cases in other states, but can't one simply "refuse service" to someone? Or not discriminate? Or have an honest conversation in which the provider states "I am not the right choice for you"?

There is a cult in this country, who must take Stephen Colbert
seriously. They too live in a no fact zone, believing that their gut
or intuition trumps reality. To them if it seems wrong, then it
must be. Of course there is Fox News and thousands of bought
and paid for web sites full of simplistic, narrow minded, short
sighted, arrogant, ignorant boole zhit that's so much easier for
them to understand than the complexity of actual science.

Of course, the other reason is that most of our political system
and much of what passes for journalism belongs to those who
profit from businesses that pollute the environment.
