I don't think I ever did this and since I'm sitting here waiting for the Hub to log in for our daily long distance chat, I thought I'd kill some time.

Are you married/single? married

What do you do to earn you a living? Domestic Goddess doing it for the glory of a job well done (ha..just don’t look under the couch, or the sinks...ceiling fans. In fact..just close your eyes. You’ll be much happier).

What's you favorite movie? Oooo…too many to name. I’ve been wanting to see Auntie Mame and Stage Door again recently.

Do you garden? No, we move to frequently to commit to plants.

If so, do you compost? See above

How many snow globes do you own? None that I remember. But at least half of our stuff is in storage at all times.

Do you own a thigh master? Not since 1987.

Dogs or Cats? Both, but don’t own any currently. See the plant question.

What is the last CD you bought? Tori Amos – Abnormally Addicted to Sin.

How many cookbooks do you own? I don’t think I can count that high.  Including magazines, perhaps 50-75.

What's your favorite one? I reference Joy of Cooking – 75th Ann. Edition the most, IJHFTF second most for techniques. My favorites for recipes are a couple of charity compilations, one by an area church, another by an philanthropic sorority. My favorite to read is one I picked up in London at a book fair under a bridge called “Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer: A Golden Treasury of Classic Treats” by Jane Brocket.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen? New set of wooden spoons.

How long have you been watching GE? Almost since the beginning.

What’s your favorite episode? I’m having a hard time picking one…so I’m going to say the Big Chili and the Grits/cornmeal episodes – I love the characters.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes? Errrr…I watch more for the techniques that then recipes – but I’ll say The Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies and ribs for favorite…and least fave? Well, I don’ t like seafood, so as fun and informative as the eps maybe the recipes do nothing for me.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy? Cheeeeeeeeeeewy.

Brine or no brine? Brine.

Is stuffing evil? Not if done right. But we’re more “dressin’” folks anyway.

Texas: never been or dying to go? Been there, done that. Going back as soon as The Hub is home and Tiny officially joins the family.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque? I consider it the true ambrosia of the Gods.

Gas or charcoal? Both

Chile or chili? Yes, please.

Do you put beans in your chili? Yes and no. No for myself; I prefer Texas chili (but I do like tomatoes); The Hub likes his loaded with lots of stuff, so I usually wind up making two batches.

What do you like to cook? Currently – anything that won’t make mah pregnant belly sick. In general, pretty much anything. Pasta, glazed baked chicken, steaks and chili are usually my go to’s In “normal” times.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat? Sometimes.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)? When I’m not knocked up, amaretto sours.

What's your favorite beer? Don’t drink beer (please don’t kick me off the board).

Red or green Tabasco? Red

Cornbread: sugar or no? I’m in the category of “I don’t care”.

What is your favorite cheese? Buffalo mozzarella. Preferably eaten at a small trattoria anywhere in Italy.

Butter or Margarine? BUTTER!!!

Do you like PIE or cake? Yes

Bread: bake it or buy it? Usually buy. Rental kitchen sucks for baking space.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies? Offal, insects, balut

Brining is easy. I've never brined a turkey, but I've brined lots of pork chops and chicken breasts and even some shrimp. Usually, it's just warm water (or tea or apple juice), some kosher salt, and some sugar. Stick the meat in and refrigerate for a few hours. I don't usually bother with spices or herbs or other seasonings. Works great any way.

Thanks for the post Ditsy. The only problem with brining in our house is that my husband is a type 2 diabetic, so I avoid sugar as much as possible. I did ask Alton about that when I met him, and he told me to use Splenda, but to only use about a third the amount. I emailed Shirley Corriher about it via her website, and she told me I could just leave it out. I worry about too much salt in our diets too (high blood pressure runs in hubby's family). Alton must not have that problem, he seems to heavily salt things. Maybe with his new diet, he'll be cutting down on that. I"d love to see him do shows about special foods like Splenda, and other diet specific substitutions people can use in their daily diets. The American Diabetic Association has recipes that actually have fructose in them, I was surprised.

Are you married/single?
Married as of this Talk Like a Pirate Day.

What do you do to earn you a living?
I'm a grad student working to become a professor.

What's you [sic] favorite movie?
Um... I don't really watch movies anymore, so I can't recall. I guess, The Last Unicorn? It's the only movie I can think of that was more than 75% true to the book.

Do you garden?
I have an onion on my porch because it sprouted in the kitchen, if that counts.

If so, do you compost?
I don't think the homeowner's association would let me, but I'd like to.

How many snow globes do you own?
None. Last one I owned broke on me.

Do you own a thigh master?
No, but I vaguely recall what a "thigh master" is. Last I checked, no one truly mastered their thighs.

Dogs or Cats? Cats before dogs, but I love rabbits most.

What is the last CD you bought?
Rush's Snakes and Arrows

How many cookbooks do you own?
20, and 4 of them are Alton Brown's.

What's your favorite one?
I'm Just Here For More Food, because I bake more than I cook.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen?
IKEA pots. Don't let the umlauts fool you. Had to trash one because it broke on the bottom from heat.

How long have you been watching GE?
Gee. I had to have been in middle school, I think. Let's assume 2000.

What’s your favorite episode?
I'm sure it's said a lot, but The Dough Also Rises. The grandma angle gets me every time.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes?
Favorite is the Grilled Romaine in Good Wine Gone Bad. My least favorite would have to be Scrap Iron Chef's Bacon because I just in general really dislike that episode.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy?
Chewy.

Brine or no brine?
Brine, of course!

Is stuffing evil?
Nope, not if done right.

Texas: never been or dying to go?
Never been. I don't know what to make of the state, especially when Austin's thrown into the mix.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque?
It's nice, but I generally steer clear of meat heavy items. Just... so much meat. I can't handle the meaty masses. I do like a mustard-based BBQ sauce, though.

Gas or charcoal?
Gas. I'm a little leery of charcoal with all that soot stuff and the carcinogens that can be generated and yadda yadda yadda...

Chile or chili?
Chile. Mostly in salsa.

Do you put beans in your chili?
Yeah, because my household prefers white chicken chili (my husband tries to cut down on red meat consumption) and that dish NEEDS beans.

What do you like to cook?
Under my grandmother's tutelage, I gained proficiency in the baking arts, so I mostly aim at the creaming, muffin, and biscuit methods as well as custard work. I pretty much can't make much that's not guided by my sweet tooth.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat?
My husband gives me a look of disgust when I discuss this, so no.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)?
Hard call. Depends on the mood. Shock Top's a great beer for both cooking and drinking. Sometimes I feel like Hennessey, but recently I've been enjoying Kahlua mixed with whole milk. Call me crazy. When I have rice wine, I prefer the Korean Sansachun.

What's your favorite beer?
Shock Top, as mentioned above, but I generally enjoy any ale.

Red or green Tabasco?
...They have two kinds?

Cornbread: sugar or no?
In my grandmother's kitchen, this question would get morphed into Jiffy or Ballard. Sadly, I have yet to make cornbread from scratch, but I guess I'll say without sugar.

What is your favorite cheese?
Ooh. That's a tough decision. I like Dubliner brand, Brie, Camembert, Ricotta, Neufchatel, Muenster, and probably a couple more I've forgotten. I really like cheese.

Butter or Margarine?
Butter. Eat the real stuff and throw out those trans fats!

Do you like PIE or cake?
Cake. I grew up on cake.

Bread: bake it or buy it?
Bake it when we can, buy it when we can't. We at least don't get the 90% air white sliced bread.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies?
Sadly, fried shrimp heads. I love the flavor, but I've been getting quite a few that are more than a little gooshy on the inside, and that's kinda getting to me. I try to be good about eating new foods, but I'm very picky about texture. I generally start gagging when the texture's off, so at least I'm not totally to blame, right? ^.^;

I"m the last person to be a "yuppie", but I know there are other cheeses besides Cheddar. Actually, there's a cheese I used to buy called Double Gloucester that is suppose to be like cheddar and is wonderful. Provolone, good old American, Mozzarella (whole milk, not that skim milk crap), and those spreadable blends are all I eat. I can't bring myself to eat a cheese that stinks more than my dog's food, so I pass on those. I never got the big deal about Swiss, I don't like it's aftertaste. But this comes from a woman who loathes peppers and onions, so my opinion doesn't mean much.

BTW, nobody is going to shoot you if you don't answer the questions, no reason to get so hostile about it.

My turn, I guess. :)

Are you married/single?
married

What do you do to earn you a living?
personal assistant

What's you favorite movie?
I don't just have one favorite movie. But favoriteS include: Serenity, Young Frankenstein, Dogma, Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Galaxy Quest, Singin' in the Rain, and many others.

Do you garden?
A bit, but not very well. We do have an herb garden that we tend and use regularly, but our vegetables don't always work out well.

If so, do you compost?
Yep, we compost.

How many snow globes do you own?
None.

Do you own a thigh master?
Nope.

Dogs or Cats?
Both. (Have 2 Schipperkes, 1 flame point Siamese, 1 mini Ragdoll, 1 deaf and silly calico.)

What is the last CD you bought?
Hmm. I'm not sure. Probably something by Marian Call or Jonathan Coulton.

How many cookbooks do you own?
Two large bookcases full. I have no idea how many are in those cases.

What's your favorite one?
Argh! I refuse to choose. But I use Alton's, Moosewood, various Julia Child, and Damn Big Chefs (http://www.damnbigchefs.com) fairly often, amongst others.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen?
We made our own Alton-style wing steamer! So that was: 3 steel steamer baskets, threaded steel rod, nuts, and a washer. :)

How long have you been watching GE?
A long time... no idea when I began.

What’s your favorite episode?
Nope, not gonna choose. :)

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes?
I might have to look over 'em all and enter the answer for this one, later...

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy?
Chewy!

Brine or no brine?
Depends on how much time I have. Either way is tasty, but I don't usually have time for brine.

Is stuffing evil?
Absolutely not! Sorry, stuffing haters.

Texas: never been or dying to go?
Never been.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque?
BBQ for us means doing it outside. BBQ sauce for me is vinegar based and not very sweet.

Gas or charcoal?
Charcoal all the way, baby!

Chile or chili?
Chili if it's the regular dish, chile if it's the pepper. Although there's Chile Verde and Chile Colorado, so...

Do you put beans in your chili?
Usually.

What do you like to cook?
Just about everything.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat?
Absolutely.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)?
Diet Coke, water, tea, coffee, barley water. I don't drink alcohol, but do cook with it. (When I did drink alcohol, favorite was hard cider.)

What's your favorite beer?
Back when I drank alcohol, that would be Alaskan Amber or my husband's brews.

Red or green Tabasco?
Neither for me, thanks.

Cornbread: sugar or no?
No, or very little.

What is your favorite cheese?
Not gonna choose just one. Tillamook cheddar is the staple in our house, though.

Butter or Margarine?
Always butter.

Do you like PIE or cake?
I prefer pie.

Bread: bake it or buy it?
Would bake it regularly if I had the time, but usually buy.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies?
Octopus, but only because octopus are so smart... shouldn't eat something that smart. I'll eat just about anything, or try it at least once. There's not much food I don't like.

Welcome to the inquisition. Please copy and paste this list to your reply and answer the questions so we can get to know you better.

(Hmmm, I suppose I should lurk the board before posting. Naw, when your daring is limited to posts, ya might as well hang onto your sense of adventure)

Are you married/single?

I'm /. Definition: 1) separated; 2) financial limbo; 3) I will survive, hey, hey, hey, hey.

What do you do to earn you a living?

Whadevaetakes. At the moment, I'm one of the many who gets the plethora of crap (save AB's GE, among few others) to your STB so you can watch cable TV. I fly out Monday, upgrade or split or combine or whatever some HE equipment, and fly back Friday.

What's your favorite movie?

Eating Raoul*

*OK, this isn't my absolute favorite--actually Hedwig and the Angry Inch is. I just felt the need to choose something that would work with the food theme.

Do you garden?

Garden? Is that synonymous with weeding? I weed. I weed, and weed, and weed. Oh yes, and pick up feces left behind by feral cats and stray dogs (I believe I've been blessed by opossums and raccoons too, but I care not to look closely enough to distinguish). In any case, I have sage and rosemary growing with no more attention than weekend weeding and watering. Lavender grows under my care too, but I've yet to understand its culinary use.

If so, do you compost?

Not at the moment.

How many snow globes do you own?

As few as possible.

Do you own a thigh master?

I did once. Or, at least, I thought I did. Turned out, he owned me.

Dogs or Cats?

Cesar Milan? Squirt bottle? BB gun? What's the question?

What is the last CD you bought?

Heck if I can remember.

How many cookbooks do you own?

If King Dick doesn't come back to claim them, about 150.

What's your favorite one?

The one King Dick misses most.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen?

I used a portion of my hotel points to get a Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer in Retro Red. Sweet. Now all I need are the flame decals.

How long have you been watching GE?

No more than a month. Once the Dick took his magic from the kitchen, I knew I had to learn alchemy and have been seeking instruction. I found a little with Child and Garten, but kindergarten isn't the same as being equipped with knowledge. I'm hoping Mr Brown won't let me down.

What’s your favorite episode?

Probably one I haven't seen yet. But I immensely liked watching fire spew all over the place in Fry, Turkey, Fry.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes?

TBD

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy?

Crunchy. Thanks for asking.

Brine or no brine?

Haven't decided yet.

Is stuffing evil?

For reasons of my own, which fall into the long story category, I'll say simply: yes.

Texas: never been or dying to go?

How about: over my dead body (which may be living there in less than a year)

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque?

A way to cover inferior meat with sugary stuff so's not to notice (Hey, I've just started watching the show. AB can set me straight on this in due time)

Gas or charcoal?

Gas.

Chile or chili?

I before E, except after C!!!!!!

Just kidding. Like you are. I mean, seriously, depends on the situation, doesn't it?

Do you put beans in your chili?

If I don't have a chili, I couldn't very well put beans in it, could I?

What do you like to cook?

Anything that turns out tasting good.

But... I'll use this opportunity to air my disappointment of how cooking shows rarely focus on the foods we should be eating most (veggies) and, after meat dishes, bombard us with those things that should be eaten rarely or never (desserts).

Do you save your rendered bacon fat?

Are you saying there are people who don't?

They must be Muslim, or something, huh?

What is your libation preference (brand, too)?

Red, red wine.

Brand? Well shoot, that would need a vintage et al... Heck, I'll just go for generalities and say Cab Sav, Zin, Merlot (Pinots are for losers who steal from their mothers). But if you plan on sending me a bottle, a Turnbull 2006 Amoenus Cab Sav will do nicely.

What's your favorite beer?

So far, that Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout I had last month

Red or green Tabasco?

Haven't thought to care, yet.

Cornbread: sugar or no?

Sure, a couple of tablespoons.

What is your favorite cheese?

Whatever's being served. Sharp Cheddar, however, is the tried and true.

Butter or Margarine?

BUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you like PIE or cake?

Eh. Between the two, I prefer cake over pie. But cookies. Oh, oh, cookies. They are my downfall.

Bread: bake it or buy it?

I buy sandwich bread. But good French bread has to be homemade.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies?

The smell of hominy nauseates me (yes, I realize AB would probably never talk to me knowing this). The thought of food-stuff (Big Macs, Circus Peanuts, Twinkies, Etc) makes me feel ill too. But willies? It'd take something like brains out of a live monkey head to do that... yet, still, nausea would be probably be too prevalent to notice something like willies... unless you whip out the pizzles.

Are you married/single?
I suppose you could say a little of both, we just haven't really made it official yet, hopefully soon.....

What do you do to earn you a living?
I work in insurance. Yippeee.

What's you favorite movie?
That is a tough one, I love a lot of movies. Currently I would probably say Pride and Prejudice. Movies I watch over and over - Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit, Fifth Element, Sense and Sensibility, Dodgeball, Super Troopers, Harry Potters, The Golden Compass, Forrest Gump, Casino Royale, Underworld, Pirates of the Carribbean, Sabrina, The Hunt for Red October, ummmm I can keep going all day....

Do you garden?
I garden vicariously through my Dad, my backyard isn't big enough to garden. I do have a pretty deep love of my Salvia plant though. I killed (freezing temps got it) my pineapple sage though :( Sucks because the leaves were so fragrant and are supposed to be really good for tea. I'll have to get another this Spring I suppose.

If so, do you compost?
I don't but I wish I did.

How many snow globes do you own?
1 maybe?

Do you own a thigh master?
Nope but I might need to invest in one.

Dogs or Cats?
Both... I have 2 of each, but would not mind having more if we had more space.

What is the last CD you bought?
I bought Carrie Underwood (for the boyfriend's daugther for Christmas) and Wade Bowen (for the boyfriend)

How many cookbooks do you own?
I'd say over 20 under 30.

What's your favorite one?
Right now... my new Julia Child cookbook my Mom gave me. I'm systematically working my way through the soup recipes right now. I have to say potato and leek soup is quite delightful.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen?
Hmmmmm scary as it is to say... I don't really remember right now. Probably my mandolin.

How long have you been watching GE?
A couple of years

What’s your favorite episode?
All of 'em, lol

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes?
My favorite is the green bean casserole and the pressure cooker chili recipes so far.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy?
Ok don't hate me... but I'm not overly fond of cookies. If I had to choose I would say I like them a little crunchy so when I dip them in milk they get chewy.

Brine or no brine?
Based on GE I say Brine! But I haven't had a change to try it yet....

Is stuffing evil?
Most of the time yes.....

Texas: never been or dying to go?
Live in TX, and love it. Never gonna leave.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque?
Well that depends on my mood. I'm a fan of smoked meats, mostly. Mmmmmm brisket nom nom nom

Gas or charcoal?
Depends on what I'm doing, but most of the time I like charcoal.

Chile or chili?
Hmmmm I love chiles! But I love chili too!

Do you put beans in your chili?
Yes, although if you ask the boyfriend he says if it has beans in it then it is not chili. We actually had a fight about that. I say I'll call it what I want when I'm the one cooking it!

What do you like to cook?
I really like to cook pasta but generally I cook to relax so I like cooking just about anything. Except for pie crusts.... pie crusts are the bane of my existence.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat?
Heck yeah!

What is your libation preference (brand, too)?
Whiskey and diet ginger ale. Brand...Maker's Mark or Crown.
I'm also addicted to diet coke.
I got an espresso machine for Christmas so I also see a few macchiatos and lattes in my future.

What's your favorite beer?
Shiner!! or Smithwicks. I like Dos Equis both amber and lager, pacifico modelo, I love a black and tan as well as a priest's collar (pear cider and guinness). I'm learning to like stout beer. Oh! I also like Wild Blue by Budweiser, it is a really neat dessert type beer. Oh oh and landshark, shock top, shiner 98, Lonestar!!! hmmm I could go on for quite awhile.....

Red or green Tabasco?
Red. I'm a big fan of Tabasco.

Cornbread: sugar or no?
Sugar

What is your favorite cheese?
Oh my gosh... I love cheese. Pick a cheese are you kidding me? That's impossible.

Butter or Margarine?
Butter, butter, and more butter. Call me Paula Jr. I can't think of anything that wouldn't benefit from a little butter lol.

Do you like PIE or cake?
Cake, but I'm not big on icing.

Bread: bake it or buy it?
I love homemade bread but it does not like me. Every attempt has not turned out well. I'm determined to get a replacement part for the bread machine I inherited.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies?
Raw chicken. I hate it. It makes me gag. I hate handling raw chicken. Oh and watching people eat oysters on the half shell too.

Hello, thought I'd pop in my answers.

Are you married/single? Single no kids, boyfriend, and he has a daughter.

What do you do to earn you a living? I'm unemployed right now.

What's you favorite movie? I don't have just one.

Do you garden? I have an herb garden.

If so, do you compost? I contribute to my step-grand parent's compost. We are in an apartment. Though a friend of mine does green living and this summer I'm going to start my own "indoor" composting project. If anyone wants instructions, I can post them? Somewhere? Maybe?

How many snow globes do you own? What?

Do you own a thigh master? No

Dogs or Cats? One dog, a Shih Tzu named Bentley, no cats, my bf is severely allergic, and a ferret.

What is the last CD you bought? I have been broke for so long, I can't remember.

How many cookbooks do you own? None  we just moved into our apartment.

What's your favorite one?

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen? Measuring Cups and spoons, more to follow. Need pans, baking sheets, that hand dandy thermometer that times as well as beeps at temp...$10 Meijer (local grocery store)

How long have you been watching GE? A year and a half.

What’s your favorite episode? The one with the suicidal corn, and the one where Alton makes Elton Halloween candy.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes? I haven't been able to try any yet. But I'd have to put the "recipe" for clotted cream from the Strawberries Episode didn't work at all...we left it for two days and it still didn't drip enough out.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy? Depends on the cookie. A puffy Gingersnap would never work, it would be a ginger cookie, though it is a type of cookie. Peanutbutter cookies I prefer chewy. Like I said depends on the cookie.

Brine or no brine? Depends on how I'm feeling.

Is stuffing evil? No. Alton has proved it is not.

Texas: never been or dying to go? Don't want to go. What does this have to do with GE?

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque? Whatever I feel like making that day that might include sauce, or a rub, a brine or no brine.

Gas or charcoal? Uhm, depends on muh mood.

Chile or chili? The country or the food? Seriously?

Do you put beans in your chili? If I feel like farting all night, sure.

What do you like to cook? Food.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat? No, it goes rancid and smells rotten not long after.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)? Oh wow. I can't narrow it down to brands, as I'm starting to explore different wines. I love a good White Zinfindel (sp?) as most women tend to. I haven't ran into a wine I don't like. I like Cabernets, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Merlot, all different types. I love a good dark rich lager, stout, the like not this American Pisswater like Budweiser, or Coors.
What's your favorite beer? I don't do pisswater.

Red or green Tabasco? Haven't tried green, all I know is Tapa Tio SUCKS! It's disgusting. I will let the bottle rot and separate before I eat any more.

Cornbread: sugar or no? Not sure.

What is your favorite cheese? Blues, sharp sharp cheddar, meunster for it's creamyness and good with fruit, Goat Cheese! I have such a limited knowledge of cheese that my choices are limited.

Butter or Margarine? Both.

Do you like PIE or cake? Both.

Bread: bake it or buy it? Both.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies? I'm trying to think how to put this. Eyes, noses, dog, we saw this show with animals "pickled" in alcohol, never get me to drink that junk. Bugs, never.
