TAKE A STAND: Round 9 - Ice Cream

Postby chefshawn » Tue Jul 27, 2010 7:45 am

Surely this debate will run the gamut.

I'm a vanilla guy, myself, unless i'm just "in the mood" to get something different, which is rare.

For those of you who havn't had the pleasure of tasting Blue Moon, this ice cream tastes like your breakfast milk after Fruit Loops have been happily floating in it. Mmmm... :D

I'm a cake batter or chocolate chip cookie dough kinda of gal....ooo...a pint of B&J Karamal Sutra makes me quiver too.

A friend once told me of a kind of ice cream she had while stationed in Germany about 13-20 years ago. I think she said it was blue; I KNOW she said it tasted like cake frosting.

Haagen Dazs butter pecan is what they'll play on the big screen before they turn me into soylent green.

Homemade peach with the Eagle Brand recipe brings me back to grandma's house.

I love Blue Moon ice cream, but lately, if I'm getting Chocolate Shoppe, it's Zanzibar Chocolate all the way.

I eat fruit for dessert, I just don't want it in my ice cream or chocolate desserts.
I like mint choco chip, it used to be a top favorite.
I love a good plain rich chocolate and vanilla!
Coffee Heath Bar Crunch is still usually number one in my book.
Been having a butter pecan craving.
Ice cream with caramel is good. Cinnamon too (Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Bun - Mmmmmmm)
I'm much more into ice cream with stuff in it than I was a couple of decades ago. Must just be because such yummy interesting recipes are being created.

The local company puts the solids of the main ingredient into the ice cream. For example:
Vanilla Bean:
Fresh Cream, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Pure Vanilla, Crushed Vanilla Beans

Turkish Coffee:
Fresh Cream, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Coffee, Crushed Coffee Beans

I will, however, cop to a favorite brand: Blue Bell.

Hey, Big C.
Regrettably, I must turn down Blue Moon. Your description was succinct. Not my type of flavor!!
Must. Buy. Ice. Cream!! To go with the ribeye, baked potato & corn dinner that is to be made in a few days, for more than one meal.
I think I'll go with butter pecan. Mmmmmmmm
