Peaches, Plums, cherries, nectarines, etc.

Carla will determine the winner of Cookoff #148.
But the secret ingredient for Cookoff #149 has already
been determined, placed in a hermetically sealed
mayonnaises jar and left on Ed McMahon's porch...

So, I with empty stomach, I say unto you:

Bring it.

This was from a show I saw with Steven Reichlen...

Grilled Peach Dessert

Freestone Peaches
Cinnamon Sticks
Mint Leaves
Canola Oil

Vanilla Ice Cream (AB's recipes work great for this)

Split the peaches and remove the pit. Take a small sharp skewer and make a hole through where the pit was. Thread some mint leaves on the cinnamon stick chunk, and shove that through the peach half. Brush canola oil on the cut side so it doesn't stick. Grill cut side down over a medium fire until grill marked (doesn't take long if the fire is going good). Turn over and cook the other side similar.

Move to a cutting board, remove the cinnamon stick and mint leaves. While they cool just a bit scoop up some ice cream in a bowl. Top with the rough chopped peaches and a fresh mint leaf or two.

Freestone peaches are a must so the halves come apart easier.

This how my mom made peach crisp.
Peach Crisp

Ingredients:
1 cup Oats (any variety, uncooked)
6 cups peeled, thinly sliced peeled peaches (about 6 to 8 medium)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar (divided in half)
1/4 cup sweet butter, melted
2 tbsp all purpose flour
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, divided (1/4 and 1/2)
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Instructions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees with the rack into the center of the oven. In a bowl, combine oats, nuts, 1/4 cup brown sugar, butter and 1/4 cinnamon; mix well. Set aside. This is the topping.
In large bowl, combine fruit and water. Add remaining brown sugar, flour and 1/2 tsp cinnamon, tossing to coat. Spoon into an 8" square glass baking dish. Top with reserved oat mixture. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until fruit is tender. Test with a toothpick to be sure the fruit is soft.
Serve warm with a good vanilla ice cream.

I like crisps, slumps, buckles and cobblers but prefer the simplicity of fruit after a meal.
Mmm, grilled peaches. Winner, Parrothead!

Tho it's no never mind, as Geimerst has saved the day (from ME!) by locking up the next ingredient. And I am curious!

Carla, I don't think that it has been a week yet, perhaps others will still post their stonefruit recipes. I love stonefruit and was looking forward to seeing what might be suggested here.

Nope - it hasn't been a week...but if you also notice, there weren't many posts either. I don't recall if there were guidelines in that it had to be a full week but I won't complain either way...I used to post in the recipe contests awhile back but stopped when people would post whore them to death to get a better shot at winning.

Actually, some of us just liked to share recipes and didn't care who won.
