QOTD 7/31: Turn of the month

Postby Chef Mongo » Tue Jul 31, 2012 8:07 am

This one actually came from a few folks: What's your favorite month? Try to put it in terms that don't incorporate a holiday IN that month.

My favorite month in Kansas City is October.
(Usually), it cools off and the humidity level is perfect.
The trees start to show their colors.
The fall flowers are still blooming.
When your wrong, your wrong.

Dammit I'm mad is the same if you spell it backwards.

October - the summer heat is finally all gone, and the sweaters can come down from the attic. Football, fallen leaves, apples and butternut squash, cool days and crisp nights.

And Halloween.

October, for many of the reasons above, the World Series, and my birthday.

Another October lover here, for all the reasons already mentioned (including my birthday!).

Though it does dawn on me that one month from today, Pari and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, so August is pretty cool this year, too. ;)

I like March here in the Carolinas. Winter has done his worst, there are LOTS of days where I can leave the windows open all day/night, and the trees start budding and blooming like crazy.

Far be it for me to rock the boat.

The weather is great in October, the colors
of the trees are beautiful, crops are ripe. 8)

Sometimes there are nice months in the
spring, but sometimes it's dreadful. :?

I really hate it when its really cold and
even more when it's hot. :x

Weird. Don't care much, but October is good.
My b-day month also.

I'm going to rock the boat too with November. It takes a little longer to cool down here and it's my birth month too, in more ways than one :)

My favorite month is May. The flowers are beginning to bloom; the trees start to leaf out; the lawns green up; and everywhere Spring is about to be "sprung." By May I have had enough of cold, snow, and dead-looking outdoors and am ready for color.

I'd say probably April. It doesn't rain too much & it's not scorching hot yet. There is just this feeling of renewal and possibility in the spring that I don't get in the fall.

May. Not only is it my birth month, it usually is that really nice period of time between spring cold/wet and summers hot/dry. Also, as a bonus, festivals start in May and everyone wants to get outside. I love it!

Another October here for most of the reasons given above, including my birthday and anniversary. Plus there's RenFest and Oktoberfest to attend!!!

March. It's well beyond the holiday season, and my body has fully recovered. The weather is pretty nice, not too anything. It's a good time to think about all the plants that I never plant, and yes, it has my birthday.

This is a hard question for me. Definitely not a summer month. I hate heat.

It is difficult for me to chose between April, October and February. We have an unpredictable winter, though I do like cold, clear days. The spring and the fall are great too. May I have one of each?

I can no more pick a favorite single month than I could a favorite season. There are good days to be found in even the very worst weather - we just don't always take the time to notice.

Oh I don't know about that. There are months in Arizona that have absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Funny how so many people chose their birth month. I wonder if being born in a certain climate has anything to do with the kind of climate we prefer. Probably not, just seems odd. With mine I can't stand the heat but I don't like it too cold either. Spring is out because summer is looming and I still am full of dread even if the weather is nice at the moment and Arizona rarely has a spring for longer than 2 weeks. And not 2 straight weeks either. We're more likely to have a fall and I would rather look forward to the cold than the heat. November is a good middle temperature month here, little chance of rogue hot days and it's not that cold yet. I don't think my birthday has anything to do with it, unless it predisposes me to like fall weather.

Well on those days, I sit next to an air conditioner set on "freezing" with a wet washcloth on my forehead
while sipping an ice cold lemonade and think "Yeah, it's not great - buuuuuuuuuuuut at least I'm not in Arizona."

I don't have any month I particularly like. When I lived in Alaska, February was my favorite month. Though daylight would start to increase in December, and accumulate by seconds and then minutes, the increase in its length never seemed noticeable until February and you would notice it was still light when you left work and then you would notice the setting sun reflecting its rays against snow capped mountains in brilliant, varying shades of pink. It would take your breath away.
