QOTD 11/06: If you're watching ...

Postby Chef Mongo » Tue Nov 06, 2012 7:30 am

If you will be watching the election results tonight, will it be more like a Super Bowl atmosphere (snacks, friends, alcohol) or a Serious Historical Moment (boring snacks, fellow Thought Leaders, absinthe)?

BEHAVE! Endorse a candidate in this thread and I'll banish you to Poli-FRY for life. ;)

Tina and I are hosting a dinner for her son and daughter-in-law and as much local family as can make it at a local restaurant. I've specifically told the chef we want a room with NO TV.

The only time I've ever done the election party happened during a local primary where the brother of a friend was seeking the gubernatorial nomination. I was not a member of his party & though I liked him, could not vote in that primary. But I went anyway & kept my mouth shut. No plans for tonight; maybe a movie. definitely wine.

I'm praying for a DECISIVE result by tomorrow.

I'm with Todd. I don't need a landslide but I want it to be a clear decision, whichever way it goes. I'm so ready for this election season to be done and I want us to be able to move forward from here.

I usually forego sitting on the edge of my seat for elections. I'll see the results tomorrow.

The one election party I do remember was when Nixon was running and my roommate drank 22 cups of Fish House punch. He could not function at all until the next evening and then only slowly.

Fish Punch, you say? Does it use real fish?

I am giving serious thought of nothing on the telly but Netflix tonight. I will keep an eye on local races via the 'puter, less chances of our TV getting broken

I'll be depressed no matter who wins.

Also expecting a landslide of legal actions being started tomorrow due to issues with voting in the Northeast parts of the country being more difficult than usual.

Fish House Punch, Mongo.

I don't think a fish could swim in it unless it would like to "self-seviche."

one 46 oz can pineapple juice
one pound dark brown sugar
add enough water to make a gallon and boil to make a thin syrup

While hot, pour over one dozen thinly sliced lemons, then cool.

When cool, combine the syrup/base with
one quart light rum
one quart dark rum
one quart brandy
one half-pint peach brandy

Serve with ice.

Makes any election bearable.

Serve me a cup, please!

Comedy Channel for me. Indecision 2012. Yes, I'm interested and will probably be up late enough to get some real results. CA's proposition system sucks.

Did it really?

I enjoyed it in '08, I think. Actually, all I remembered was the grin on John Stewart's face when Obama won.

When I saw, though, that it didn't start until 11, I laughed it off pretty quick! Bedtime around here is about 9pm at the latest.

I played Minecraft until 10 then went to bed. Josh kept up with the results until bed. Usually I like to watch the results, but I just didn't care. Someone has to win, someone has to lose and that's the way it is.

I'll check the results here in a bit.

I was too stressed. I tuned in every once in a while for updates, but they just made it worse. I just read my book and tried to sleep, hoping it would all be OK in the morning.
