It depends on the emotion. If I'm angry or mad I tend to get busy and clean house. Just doing something physical allows me the time to sort things out in my head and channels the energy toward something productive.

If the emotion is sadness or depression I'll call a friend or put on some music.

If I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed I'll take a nap (typical avoidance), but if I'm anxious I'll meditate.
