Thank You Carla :)

A rabbit show would be cool... Although, I've never seen any bunnies at the local megamart.

Any episode where you get two Altons at the same time is a keeper.

I remember our garden tomatoes when I was a kid in Illinois, where they have real soil. They actually taste like something. The tomatoes we get in the store here dont really taste like anything. They dont have that wonderful smell either. I miss real tomatoes.

I have a weird feeling I'm missing the context of this post, but I'm paranoid, so don't mind me.

I haven't seen the Stuffed Tomato episode(I guess I need to!) but I must add..Tomatoes are my favorite thing of ever..I mean, OF EVER. I could eat tomatoes all day, any day. Sliced, diced, sauteed, out of a can, I don't care. I love them. Diverticulitis (sp?) be damned! I love them.

Summer means to me=white bread, mayo, sliced heirlooms, salt and pepper. Ask me any day of the year what my favorite sandwich is, I'll say "tomato!"

Ahhh..tomatoes..can't wait for summer.

One of my favorite episodes. I REALLY want to try the stuffed tomatoes this year - only two problems: my husband hates both tomatoes and mushrooms and I can NEVER pick out a good tomato at the farmer's market. It is a skill my mother had tried repeatedly to teach me and I never seem to get it.

Well, I mostly wanted to boost this thread back ot the top because it is showing on Saturday, however, I did finally try the stuffed tomatoes so here is my take on that receipe.

The mushroom stuffing was good. I used a few fresh mushroom in wiht the dried and I liked the fresh ones better. Next time I will used mostly fresh mushroom with a few dried for the extra intense flavor. I also found I needed a bit more salt for it to taste good.

The tomatoes themselves came out undercooked in my opinon - they just came out tasting raw rather than baked.

The goat cheese topping was reallly good.

I, however, did not really like the combination of the mushroom stufffing with the tomatoes. Next time I stuff tomatoes I will used a traditional rice mixture, thought I may steal the goat cheeese topping to add at the end. I will save the mushroom stuffing for other applications - such as stuffing beef or mushrooms.

"Tomato Envy" is my all-time FAVORITE GE episode. I'm embarrassed to admit how often I watch it (yes, I have ALL the DVDs). Between Mr. MacGregor and the recipes and folklore, I would venture to say that "Tomato Envy" is the QUINTESSENTIAL (quintessential - representing the perfect example of a class or quality) Good Eats episode!!!!!

My kid pointed out to me that the song of the yellow-bellied tomato pecker is the GE theme song!!! I didn't hear it at first.
